Transformed Lives: Subway Encounter

L had been struggling with serious health problems for the better part of a year. It had cost her her job and many of her friendships. All she could manage was to write some poetry. As her health improved, she took tentative steps back into the world; she started with poetry readings.

On the train platform on the way home, she met Danielle, who smiled and asked if they were waiting for the same train. They connected immediately, and when L realized Danielle was a writer, she asked if they could meet again.

They began to hang out regularly, often discussing Danielle’s faith. Danielle sent her soup when she felt sick, prayed for her, and introduced her to her church. L said: “There’s something different about how you love. Maybe it IS God.”
