Finding Beauty in the Ordinary: MoMA at HoMA

Creativity involves the process of making something out of nothing—of building meaningful, beautiful work out of ordinary things.

And being made in the image of a creator, we as humans feel the need, the want, to create! As Francis Schaeffer says in Art and the Bible, “Creativity is a part of the distinction between man and non-man.” This creative urge to make something out of nothing is very much part of being human.

So in these odd, quarantined times, we were inspired by the Getty Museum’s challenge to make art out of household objects. We imitated iconic works from the Museum of Modern Art and assembled our very own collection of MoMA at HoMA.

It was a fun exercise in creativity and finding beauty in the ordinary. And we want to challenge you to do the same!

May we present to you:

“Starry Night, Laundry Day”
”Matisse Ma Eats”
”Suds and Water Lilies”
”Reservoir: Hoard de April”
”Affrida Depot”
”Mondri-entryway”
”Woman Grinding Coffee”
